nj: A Home Staging Expert Adds the WOW Factor That Buyers are Looking For! - 02/10/10 09:58 AM
A little bit of accessorizing can go a long way when selling your home. A professional home staging expert is experienced in knowing where to place accessories around the home that will draw a buyers eye to specific selling features of the home. Too often, homes are either under accessorized or over accessorized.
As you look at these pictures you will see that a beautifully furnished home can seem cold and uninviting without proper accessories.Enter the Home Staging Expert!

What do you do when buyers complain that your home does not offer enough living space? Do you think of knocking down walls and adding on?? I certainly hope not! Instead you should be seriously considering the services of a professional home stager...Enter the team of ReStyled to Sell Home Staging Experts!!
My job as a professional home staging expert is to clearly define your space so buyers can envision themselves living there. Sometimes that may mean swapping out rooms for better flow. Here is a home we staged in Westfield, NJ last week. The home was completely renovated but left … (7 comments)

nj: Staging Two Condos in Two Different Styles to Appeal to a Wider Range of Buyers - 07/08/09 10:18 AM
Here is a project we worked on in Linden, NJ. The units are beautifully done and when we asked what the demographics were, we were told young, first time buyers and older professionals. OKAY SO WE NEED TO APPEAL TO BUYERS WITH A LITTLE TRADITIONAL FLAIR AND A LITTLE MODERN EDGE...Here is what we did!
We chose a unit on the first floor and second floor. We staged the unit on the first floor a bit more traditional and then showed the buyer how the unit on the second floor, which had a "BONUS SPACE" would look decorated with a modern … (12 comments)

nj: Best Transformation in 2008 - 12/28/08 03:21 PM
Well once again Kathy Nielsen, Stager Extraordinaire has got us all going down memory lane. It was hard, at first, to come up with a favorite room transformation but as I got to thinking, I thought about posting my last job just before Christmas. It seems that with every house I stage I say the same thing..."THIS WAS MY BEST", until next time...so here it is my fave for 2008!
The challenge in this room was the shape of the room and the placement of the windows.
By working with a Loveseat and angling the furniture, the room seems more proportional … (8 comments)

nj: STOP THE PHOTO SHOOT!! - 10/30/08 11:49 AM
I received a frantic phone call from a realtor last week saying he needed to get a vacant condo staged IMMEDIATELY!! Okay, I do hear this all the time, everyone wants their job yesterday...but here was his dilemma...
He had recently become the agent for a group of condos that were finally nearing their completion after a year of construction woes. The first units were completed and he was ready to have his photos taken and begin his marketing....BUT, the seller/investor DID NOT WANT THE PROPERTY STAGED! They did not see the value in it!
THANK GOD this very smart realtor … (21 comments)

nj: Celebrating the HARVEST! - 10/17/08 02:55 PM
Fall is my absolute favorite time of year. I love the weather, the color of the trees, the food and the festivities that go along with fall. Here in Old Bridge, New Jersey my favorite thing to do with my grandson is take an old fashioned hayride at Cottrell Farms.
I just can never get enough of apple picking and apple pie. Finding that perfect pumpkin that will make the neatest jack o lantern is high on my list of things to do, BUT never as high as drinking PUMPKIN LATTES. You know it's Fall when Pumpkin Lattes are advertised in … (1 comments)

nj: Taking Your Room to NEW HEIGHTS!! - 09/29/08 02:05 PM
When Staging smaller rooms with large walls, I always recommend painting an accent wall to my clients. This fabulous 2 story condo is located in Westfield, NJ. The beauty of this condo is that it was about the only two bedroom, two story condo for sale in this building. SO we needed to play up these features!
As you review the before and after pictures, you will see that by making small changes and adding a warm color on the walls the room is taken to a whole new level.
The tall drapes left the fireplace looking small and of no … (12 comments)

nj: BYE BYE PINK, HELLO HOME!! - 11/10/07 08:57 PM
Before Painting and Staging
After Painting and Staging.
So many times I see homes that are reminiscent of 1980's decor and paint color. Pink is one of those colors. While it works well in a little girl's room, it does nothing to warm up this space. This is a beautiful home in Warren, NJ. The style is contemporary and therefore the homeowner went with the "contemporary" colors that so many homeowners choose....PINK!
This living room was large and in an effort to "fit" all their furniture, the homeowners had everything spread out! The loveseat was across from the couch (as seen in the next … (20 comments)

nj: A Bedroom and Master Bathroom Staged for Cold Winter Nights - 10/18/07 12:24 AM
I staged a house last week in Flemington, NJ and one of the nicest features of this house (there were many) was the wonderful Master Bedroom with a fireplace that warmed you up at night when lying in bed, but a fireplace that you could gaze at while soaking in your large tub.
When I first arrived for my consultation this feature was hidden and there was nothing that really drew your attention to this area. With a few simple touches and carrying the same color scheme throughout both rooms, this fireplace now screams...Come and relax after a long day at work!!

nj: Staging Your Home Doesn't Have to Be Complicated - 10/15/07 02:25 PM
In today's competitive Real Estate Market it is important that you stage your home so that each room has a purpose. Buyers need to see how the room can be used and then envision themselves living there. In this home that I recently staged, the dining room was not a large room but with a few key pieces, it definitely shows a buyer that they can enjoy a lovely candlelit dinner and entertain guests as well.
The table setting is simple and there is not alot of furniture in the space, but the room still has an elegant formal feel to it. … (4 comments)

nj: A STAGED HOME, WHETHER NEW OR OLD, WILL SELL - 05/06/07 12:19 AM
Hey Everyone
Thanks for all your encouraging and warm comments to my blog... THIS JUST IN!! Many of you have asked to see pics and I apologize that I do not always post pics to my blogs.
I have had several problems uploading pics to my blogs, my computer and my website for that fact. It seems that pics come out a bit grainy and off color and the scale never seems to be right. Any help or suggestions with regard to this matter would be greatly appreciated. At present I have my web designer redoing all my pics because they LOOK NOTHING … (12 comments)

nj: THIS JUST IN...FULL PRICE OFFER AT OPEN HOUSE!! - 05/04/07 05:15 AM
Okay we have another Staging Success Story!!
ReStyled to Sell Home Staging NJ just finished staging a home in Westfield, NJ. As I mentioned before, Westfield is a beautiful area with some lovely blocks and gorgeous homes. My company was called in for a consultation on a large colonial a few weeks back.
As always, I look at everything and not just how the furniture can be rearranged. I submitted a proposal that included ripping out the rugs to expose the hardwood floors, replacing broken lighting fixtures, decluttering, painting 2 bedrooms and rearranging the space as well as showcasing the enclosed back … (16 comments)

nj: Westfield NJ - What a beautiful town!! - 04/17/07 03:31 PM
I have had the honor of working with Weichert Realtors in Westfield NJ for the past year and have staged many of their listings in and around Westfield, NJ, including Clark, Garwood, Cranford, Scotch Plains and Fanwood. If you have never visited that quaint town, I would recommend that you take a drive through one day soon.
Downtown Westfield, with over 200 retail establishments and 400 commercial enterprises, is a regional destination in New Jersey. Westfield's downtown features many local shops and chain stores, such as Lord and Taylor and many landmarks that were shown and used in the television show Ed … (0 comments)

nj: OLDER HOMES CAN BE MADE LIKE NEW - 04/13/07 08:17 AM
While staging a vacant home that has recently been newly constructed, it is always nice to take an older home and breathe new life into it.
ReStyled to Sell Home Staging NJ just finished an older 3 story colonial in Westfield NJ. This house, in the right location, could be a beautiful bed and breakfast. It is the type of house that has a third floor than can easily be transformed into 2 more bedrooms.
Upon arrival at this home for my consultation there was a lot of clutter and items hiding the beauty of this home. There was wall to wall carpeting throughout … (12 comments)

nj: REAL PEOPLE, REAL HOUSES, REAL BUDGETS - 01/18/07 10:42 AM
Here are the before and after pictures of the woman's house that I had the pleasure of staging the other evening. While I mentioned in my article that she was depressed and overwhelmed, you can see how junk was just piled everywhere. Folks, this is her kitchen. Where did she eat??
I have been Staging homes for Sale in New Jersey for some time now and I have to say as staging has grown more popular in large part due to HGTV, oftentimes I have gotten depressed about my abilities. WHY?? Because some, if not most of my homes, don't look like … (17 comments)

nj: STAGERS HELP PEOPLE MOVE ON IN MORE THAN ONE WAY!! - 01/18/07 08:17 AM
Hey Fellow AR Stagers
I know that we have written to each other over the past few months and commented on the fact that we have to be like psychotherapists at one time or another. We need to be sensitive to the sellers needs and we need to do a good job to help these sellers move on.
The other night I got called to do a Free Consult (Remember my Christmas coupon)??. Anyway, the realtor called me and said she has a house that has been on the market for 6 mths. A ton of people come to see it, the house … (22 comments)

nj: Staging Homes and Creative Room ReDesigns before it was called Staging - 12/26/06 09:47 AM
Okay I have been memed...again. I probably have bored everyone with certain details about my life, but to come up with an additional five things that no one knows...hmmm!
1. Learn not to Doubt Your Talents!. Years ago I would spend hours helping friends redesign their homes. I love wallpapering, I find it very relaxing believe it or not. After the wallpaper went up, I would proceed to "shop" in the closets, pantries, linen closets, drawers, garage and basements for items that can be used throughout the home. Someone once told me years ago that I should start my own business, and … (7 comments)

nj: Christmas Memories are made in Old Bridge, NJ - 12/21/06 12:06 PM
Hi Fellow Rainers...I hope that you are taking time to enjoy some of the festivities in your town besides dodging people at the mall.
I have lived in Old Bridge (Matawan), NJ now for the past 20 years. When I first moved here from Staten Island I felt as if I moved to the country. Life in Old Bridge was lived at a much slower pace and the people seemed kinder and friendlier. One of my first jobs here in Old Bridge was teaching aerobics (remember my former life as an dance/aerobics instructor in my Meme), at a local gym. The friends … (4 comments)
