The City of Murfreesboro is hoping that a new food service factory will soon be building in the southern portion of Rutherford County. Although the name of the company looking to build the new facility was not released, Roger Haley, the city manager, stated that it was a large, well-known food or beverage corporation. Nissan Motor Corporation of American has a factory in Smyrna, TN (Rutherford County) which has brought a tremendous amount of growth to the area and fuels a large portion of our local economy. I hear all the time that in business you should never get emotionally attached to your clients. But, when your business is selling real estate, don't you think it is impossible not to get emotionally attached? When I'm working with a young couple who is trying desperately to find suitable housing or qualify for a loan, I feel so much empathy for them and find myself working extra hard to help them find them a home. When Nissan announced that they would be moving their headquarters to the Cool Springs area of Williamson County, TN between Brentwood and Franklin, it was received with a lot of reservations from many of the employees. The city of Franklin and Brentwood were excited over the move but many of the Nissan employees did not seem to share that excitement. Today was part 2 of The Daily News Journal's special report on affordable housing in Rutherford County, and Murfreesboro, TN. The story today featured a local resident who made a modest living but wanted to purchase his own home. Fortuantely, through the help of his parents, who just so happen to be excellent Realtors, his dream of homeownership became a reality. Our local paper, The Daily News Journal, started a three part series today addressing the housing market in Rutherford County. Murfreesboro is on the fast track for growth and our housing prices have seen significant increases over the past year or so. Some contend that housing in Murfreesboro, and Rutherford County is only affordable for some with the gap growing wider between home ownership and not being able to purchase a home.
