going green: Your "Green" Tip for the Day

Did you know that 97% of the insects in your garden don't harm plants! They're called "beneficials" because they benefit the garden by pollinating flowers, improving the soil and eating the pests that really do harm plants! So next time you go to swat an insect think about it; not all insects are bad, actually most are good;)

going green: Turn Brown Leaves Green

Today is September 1st, soon the leaves will be falling from the the trees, did you know that you can turn brown leaves green? What does that mean? By sweeping up the fallen leaves and putting them into a recycle bin you not only prevent them from clogging storm drains, but also your doing your part to keep streets and sidewalks clean. The recycled leaves will be given new life as compost for local farms and gardens and so the circle of life circulates!
