More Direct Flights to Ski Town USA This Winter
Non-stop flights to Steamboat Springs, CO from 11 major hubs For being such a small town, Steamboat Springs does a good job of securing direct seasonal flights to and from our local airport (Steamboat/Hayden Airport - HDN). In fact, our resort economy depends on it.

ski season: Steamboat Springs' Opening Day Ski Season Tradition - 11/18/14 11:52 PM
Steamboat Springs' Opening Day Ski Season Tradition  We are one week away from the official opening of our ski season here in Steamboat Springs! Since 1991 the Steamboat Ski & Resort has so generously supported the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club by giving its opening day, also known as "Scholarship Day", revenues to the local Club. Since 1991/92, the Ski Resort's Scholarship Day has raised nearly $850,000 for the Winter Sports Club. Pretty impressive, don't you think?

ski season: Unpredictable Snowfall Forecasts for Steamboat Springs - 11/14/12 02:04 AM
Snowmaking at Steamboat-Photograph by John F. Russell
With a little bit of snow on the ground and Scholarship Day at the Steamboat Ski Area less than a week away, thoughts of the upcoming ski season and, after a winter like last year, snow levels have begun to consume the brains of many of us who have chosen to make our homes here in Steamboat Springs. I even got excited and wrote a blog about our first expected snow of the season back in early October. An article published this morning in the Steamboat Today titled Uncertainty in short-term, long-term forecasts for … (2 comments)

ski season: We Need Snow - Too Many Bears. For Real. - 10/11/12 04:43 AM

Snow on the way for the Steamboat Springs Ski Area and the bears are getting restless.
I'm dancing for snow.  We really need snow here in Steamboat Springs. Any precipitation will do. Rain, snow, we'll take it. The ground is dry, the rivers are low, the reservoirs are dwindeling. What we need is a good old winter with tons of snow. We also need it because the bears are getting restless and need to den up for the winter. See video below. And pictures of bears here.  "Steamboat Springs — The slopes of the Steamboat Ski Area above 9,000 feet could see … (2 comments)

ski season: Walgreens In Steamboat...Impressive before Opening - 11/04/11 09:29 AM
Anyone who's been to Steamboat and everyone who lives in Steamboat knows, we don’t have a lot of national chain stores here. While that’s by design and city ordinance, it can be a little limiting when you live here full time. So the approval of a Walgreen’s store in Steamboat Springs was a big deal, and a hard fought battle with those who’d like to keep things in Steamboat as chain-store free as possible.
Walgreen's
So the building is pretty much finished and looks as though it could open any day once stocked with both merchandise and employees. And many of … (2 comments)

ski season: Steamboat Springs September 2011 Real Estate Report - Moguls, not groomed. - 10/25/11 10:39 AM
Steamboat Springs' September Real Estate Report - Still Bumpy
Steamboat Springs' summer to fall transition is a mixed, bumpy ride both weather and real estate market wise. Real estate continued along its own bumpy ride with the number of transactions totaling the second highest all year at 140, but with gross dollar volume just over $35 million which only ranks 5th year to date with 9 months down. Makes sense when you dig deeper into residential home sales and see that 34% of them in September were for homes under $200,000.
As September turned to October and mud season follows, we’ll see less real … (2 comments)
