fun photos: Wordless Wednesday (Almost) Tangled in Chanel! - 01/16/13 10:00 AM

Cinnamon loves playing with ribbons and this one that came with my Christmas gift is no exception. She smells nothing like Coco though...and when your home is on the market it is important to remember that pet odors can make or break a sale.

Here are a few additional tips for selling a home with pets:
Keep your pet well groomed to reduce odor, hair and damage caused by nails & claws. Get a pet bed for your dogs and cats. (Several are available atOLDDOGPAWS.com. It not only is more comfortable than the floor, it keeps dirt and sweat … (9 comments)

fun photos: Speechless Sunday (Almost)--Full Moon Outshines Holiday Lights! - 12/16/12 03:24 AM

The beauty of a full moon could not be overlooked on a December night last year....even when we had to view it over the milliions of lights in the Osborne Spectacle of Lights display in Hollywood Studios. We had never been to Disneyworld during the holiday season before. With temps above 80 degrees it didn't feel like Christmas but the light show, by the imagineers and Mother Nature, was beautful!

fun photos: Wordless Wednesday (Almost)--Accidental Art - 11/21/12 05:52 AM

Some of the best things happen accidentally. My husband was juggling the camera for me and accidentally took this photo at the Mall of America earlier this year. Architecturally it is a pretty awesome shot of Nordstrom's second floor entrance from below. I can only imagine how crowded this area will be come Black Friday...or at Midnight on Thanksgiving when they open their doors. It will be in my imagination because I have never attempted to shop the MoA the day after Thanksgiving due to the crowds. They set an attendance record last year and I for one have … (13 comments)

fun photos: Wordless Wednesday (Almost)--A Peep Anyone Would Love! - 03/21/12 09:45 AM

Love em or hate em...Everyone has an opinion on Peeps! In my opinion they are barely edible but I have one son that loves them! We visited Mall of America in Bloomington this weekend and they have a new store devoted to the Peep. It's not just a candy store either...though there are Peeps and every flavor of Mike and Ike you can imagine! They also have socks, t-shirts and assorted Peep related gifts. I do have to admit, I kind of like the glowing giant Peep at the center of the store.

fun photos: Wordless Wednesday (Almost)--Pretty Kitty! - 02/22/12 04:39 AM

Even in a cage, a wild animal can be beautiful. Como Park is one of our favorite family places to visit and take photos. I have done this since I was 17 and a freshman at Hamline University. For fun, I would ride my bike a few miles over to Como Park Zoo and take photos of the animals.  There are more fences rules about feeding the animals than when I started taking pictures. Back then the cougars and jaguars didn't have the screens that I had to shoot through here. But the kitties are just as pretty as … (5 comments)

fun photos: Wordless Wednesday (Almost)--Hungry Squirrel in Ham Lake! - 03/23/11 10:42 AM

After this particularly brutal winter in Anoka County, we felt a bit sorry for the squirrels living on our Ham Lake acreage. Even with several large oaks in our yard, the acorns were tough to dig out after several inches of snow. Our cat enjoys watching them play from the window so we set out food to attract them. Luckily, only the gray squirrels found it as the red ones have been known to eat cedar so we don't really want them on our front porch.

fun photos: Speechless Sunday (Almost)--I Miss Snowmen at our Ham Lake Minnesota Home! - 01/23/11 10:38 AM

Don't let the date fool you. This photo is from my archives. This year we have had record breaking snow in Ham Lake, Minnesota....Recordbreaking all over the Twin Cities metro in fact. Yet, our yard is snowman-free. The boys are now much older. This photo was taken when we first moved to our home on Anoka County acreage...before the front porch had a railing and hydrangeas in front. I am a native Minnesotan but really never got into skiing, snowmobiling or ice skating. I always liked snowmen however...and I real miss having them in our Ham Lake yard!

fun photos: Wordless Wednesday (Almost)--LolCat Wishes a Merry Christmas--Yeah Right! - 12/22/10 10:43 AM

I don't think Santa will want any help from our lolCat Muffin this year. He's not too happy about the elf ears...wants his own back ASAP! At least we know he will get a present or two from Santa in his Christmas stocking after putting up with all the hats we have made him wear this year!

fun photos: An Imperfect Kodak Moment Full of Brotherly Love - 12/14/10 07:42 AM
It was back in the day when everyone sent one perfect family photograph as a holiday greeting at Christmas and I, the ever perfectionist mom, had a brilliant idea. I was going take the single most awesome photograph of my toddler sons at the Como Park Conservatory for our card. Since I was a child, I had watched wedding, graduation and holiday photos taken at this magical place where tropical flowers exploded with color everywhere even when our Minnesota world was winter white. I had taken my own prized shots of the dazzling off-season color at the Conservatory for high school … (22 comments)

fun photos: Wordless Wednesday (Almost)--Guess Who's Coming to Dinner? - 11/17/10 02:50 AM
This guy ( or gal) got lucky...we don't hunt. But walking around in our Ham Lake yard days before a holiday that puts a turkey on almost every table in Anoka County, this bird does take his life into his own hands....I mean wings ( or would it be drumsticks?)
This is just one of many as we have several dozen of wild turkeys roam through the wooded acreage around our home. Wild Turkeys are abundant throughout Columbus, Linwood, Andover, Lino Lakes and even Blaine.

fun photos: Wordless Wednesday (Almost) Well Fed Chipmunk! - 09/08/10 04:49 AM

Call it a chipmunk, gopher, ground squirrel or just plain rodent, this guy is well fed living just off campus near my son's dorm. He wasn't the only fat critter as we noticed several portly squirrels munching discarded leftovers too. Nothing seems to go to waste and he was pretty persistant too. While we watched hetried to take the cinnamon roll to go but it was just too big to carry off.

fun photos: Using BUILDINGS to Get YOUR Message Across! - 08/05/10 11:18 AM
Never look at REAL ESTATE the same way again! Most people who have played with Google Space realize that every building has it's own unique shape from above. One inventive Minnesotan realized that many structures resemble letters of the alphabet in an aerial view. As a REALTOR ®, I do tend to look closely at the exterior of buildings but rarely like this! The creator of geogreetings.com spent hours searching out aerial views of buildings to find a shape resembling each letter. The greetings are linked to a Google map feature indicating where the letter (or structure) is located. Many are … (10 comments)

fun photos: Wordless Wednesday (Almost)--Minneapolis Skyline from Across the Minnesota State Fair! - 08/04/10 10:01 AM

Many of the most spectacular things to do and see at the Minnesota State Fair are completely FREE! If you are heading for the state fair this year, don't miss the view from high above it all. It is worth the wait and the climb up the narrow stairs in the DNR tower for this breathtaking view of the Minneapolis skyline!

fun photos: Wordless Wednesday (Almost)--Hiding an Elephant! - 06/09/10 08:13 AM

Kind of hard not to spot this guy isn't it? Sometimes home sellers in an attempt to "stage" their home will try to camouflage the flaws with decorating. Putting a plant in front of a major crack in a wall or positioning a couch over a damaged wood flooring is not the best way to sell a home. It often looks no better than this guy hiding behind the tree. Buyers working with a good REALTOR will see through the smoke screen to the elephant in the room. Best advice is to make a proper repair from the get … (19 comments)

fun photos: Wordless Wednesday (Almost)--Fast Hands! - 05/12/10 07:28 AM

Amazingly fast and expert on the job...That's how I would describe this Disneyworld chef. He was so quick, it was difficult to capture his hands as they prepared our dinner. I am certain he spent many hours perfecting his craft before displaying his culinary and entertaining skills. Now as a north and east Twin Cities metro REALTOR®, I continually work hard to perfect my skills with the hopes of being amazingly fast at finding a home for a buyer (or finding a buyer for a home) but it is doubtful that I will ever move quite as fast as this!

fun photos: Wordless Wednesday--LOLCat in the Hat! - 02/24/10 10:46 AM

They sell cat headwear in the treat aisle at Target but I don't think this was much of a treat for our fat head cat. He was a little feisty as we had to "work" his ears into the earholes. But he really enjoyed the catnip and salmon flavored goodies. We decided to leave the ears alone and he looked a bit like Elmer Fudd....but still not happy with his hat.

fun photos: Speechless Sunday (Almost)--Hippie Monkeys! - 12/13/09 11:38 AM

Sock Monkeys have a special place in my heart around the holidays. I have a niece who carried one around from the time she could walk. His name was Mr. Monkey and he was of traditional design. Well meaning people thought Mr. Monkey needed a friend but my niece hated the imposters. Flashforward many a decade or two to today where my teenager who has always loved Goldfish Crackers, refers to the rainbow colored variety as Hippie Goldfish. Hence, these purple, pink and blue holiday sock monkeys found in a Forest Lake department store are now dubbed HIPPIE Monkeys. Happy Holidays!
