There has been an increase in burglaries near our neighborhood. Our local Gilbert, AZ Police Department is introducing a program to help us better protect our property and vehicles. The Moore Team does more than just sell real estate, we want to make a difference in people's lives so, I'm sharing this will all of our clients and I wanted to share it with all of you out there. The new Program, known as "Operation S.M.A.R.T. Driver" focuses on the things a driver needs to remember prior to exiting his or her vehicle. S = Secure your vehicle inside your garage or park in a well lit area. Your vehicle is more vulnerable out in the open. Try not to park street side. Park in your driveway or near your apartment so that the vehicle can be viewed periodically. If you have a garage, park inside and do not forget to close your garage door once inside. M = Make sure you have taken all of your personal property out of your vehicle. It's important to make certain that you take all of the valuables out of the vehicle when exiting. Burglars love to see items that can be easily carried away - such as; Cash/change in ashtrays or cup holders CD's Wallets/purses Mail Jewelry Gym Bags Tools Cell phones, IPODS, Lap tops and other electronics A = Always make copies of the documents you leave in your glove compartment and black out your address. Arizona is number 1 in the nation for identity theft and because of this we need to be extremely conscious of our personal information. If someone were to access your glove compartment while you were shopping, or having the vehicle serviced or washed, they would have immediate access to your personal information. If your glove compartment locks, lock it - leave only redacted copies of your information in there. R = Remember to always take your keys, garage opener and radio face plates with you. Many times vehicle thefts begin as burglaries. A criminal finds a vehicle with valuables in it - and also scores keys. Never leave your keys in your vehicle. Taking your keys, garage door openers and radio faceplates with you each and every time you leave the vehicle is very important even when parking inside your own garage. Criminals have electronic garage door decoders and can get into open garage doors quite easily. T = Take the time to lock your vehicle and set your car alarm. If you have a vehicle alarm - use it. If you hear a vehicle alarm going off in a parking lot- pay attention and do not hesitate to contact police to report this suspicious activity. By setting one of my personal goals to get in shape and lose weight, affirming this end result everyday and doing the steps to get there - I (Kelly) have lost 33 pounds since the end of Sep 07 and I only have 4 more pounds to reach my ultimate goal. Now I am incorporating situps, pushups and light weights to build the muscle which will help burn fat. Here's what worked for me: I walked 1/2 a mile to warm up (less than 1/4 mi warm down) and 2 miles as fast as I could each day (min 6 days a week). I wrote down everything I ate and drank each day including the calories. For me, I needed to stay under 1200 to start dropping pounds. Ask your doctor what a good max calorie intake would be for you and go for it! Below are some ways to keep moving, clear your mind and burn some calories- Moving your body, whether you are running, jumping, walking or playing equals energy, strengthens your muscles & helps you feel good. 60 minutes a day can be too much to do at one time or maybe you can't find that much time. Do 10 minutes at a time throughout the day. It can clear your head too.
Take a work break, a homework break or even get off the couch and move while you're watching TV. Here are some ideas * Dance to your favorite music * Walk somewhere instead of driving or getting a ride * Do some yard work * Help clean the house * Take out the garbage * Jumping jacks for one minute * March in place for one minute * Walk up and down the stairs * Play tag with your kids * Skip rope with your kids * Walk your dog * In-line skate * Exercise * Play basketball * Hula-Hoop * Kick a soccer ball with your kids * Ride a bike * Jog If you and your kids are stuck at home: - Gymnastics or tumbling (make sure you have enough room).
- Scavenger hunt.
- Play volleyball with a balloon.
- Hit a balloon or balled-up sock and see how many times you can hit it before it hits the floor.
- Twister.
- Nerf basketball
