Tuesday, January 20th 2009 will go down in history in our area. Not because of the inauguration though....
Monday, January 19th was all abuzz in Hampton Roads, Virginia. When I went to volunteer at the preschool across the street, I asked these sweet children if they knew of the "big event" taking place the following day. All their hands went up but they couldn't hold in their excitement as they simultaeously yelled out, "It's going to snow tomorrow!".
Yes, in Virginia Beach, it seems that getting snow is a more exciting event than getting a new President.

Here comes the Active Rain Friendship Ball.
It got passed along to me by my friend Brian Block from up in Northern Virginia. After reading Brian's blog posts for a long time, we were finally able to meet in person at Inman Connect in San Francisco. Brian is a very cool dude - he is the winner of the Makeover to Takeover Competition here on AR and he is also a ballroom dancer....a lethal combination!

They've been teasing us with bits and pieces for the past few weeks of this new Zipvo Platinum they're getting ready to launch.

Tomorrow, they will give us another piece of the platinum puzzle.

tina in virginia: How Do You Fix a Broken System? - 09/03/08 05:40 AM

Richard Foster caught my attention with a recent blog post. In his post, he vented his frustration of working in a field where practically anyone who breathes can get a license to practice. He went on to use examples of other occupations which have more stringent requirements for licensure such as hair dresser and nail technician.
Richard suggested weeding out the part-timers by increasing dues dramatically.
But, will this really fix the broken system?
Won't Brokers continue to recruit and recruit and recruit without regard to ethics, education and professionalism? (I'm talking about Realtors here, not licensees who aren't members of … (3 comments)

tina in virginia: The "Experience" of Showing Properties - 08/20/08 02:21 AM

I'll admit it, I do not show properties very often. I am primarily a listing agent so when I show properties to a potential buyer, it is always an "experience" for me. Yesterday, I had one of those "experiences" as I showed properties to a client in the $180,000-$250,000 price range.
No wonder the general public has such a poor perception of real estate agents!
Here is what I encountered:

While I was at REConnect in San Francisco, I had the pleasure of finally meeting the guys from T-Rex Global. I have been using their free products for investors with great success and it was so wonderful to put a face to the name. If you haven't tried their products, I highly recommend them. Will "Short sale" become the "it" phrase for 2008? Only time will tell.......
Here are some surefire ways to get your short sale rejected:
1. Have your agent or attorney write your hardship letter.
2. Don't fully complete your short sale package.
3. Don't be willing to relinquish assets.
4. Show unwillingness to work with the bank prior to asking for a short sale.
5. Have an inexperienced agent negotiating for you with the bank.
6. Threaten the bank (i.e. "I'll just leave the house with the door open").
7. Don't answer all of the questions the bank asks.
