The Golden Rule, still the best!

The Golden rule, applies now just as it did years ago, and maybe even more so. We try and practice the common decency, that we shoud do unto others, as we would like them to do to us. With the new economy and so many shortsales and foreclosures, it has become our new office procedure to always call the list agent, to be sure that nothing is in the works or pending, as too many times you go to show and once you have an interested client ready to make offer, only to find the list agent has not posted that they have a current pending contract. I personally had some 3-4 just real recently, and just this week, told list agent we had a contract ready, waiting on  parent to send proof of funds, and recieved an email the next day, explaining the had an accepted offer. I immediately called and asked the list agent, in that she knew I had a contract ready, could she not have had the courtesy to at least call? I guess Im just old school, but no way to treat the profession. We have many great agents that stay on top and do the right thing, and I had to remind this agent that what goes around, comes around. There are plenty of properties to see,  and no one likes to waste time, especially  when one is under contract.

Bob, This was mentioned in another blog and one of the comments was that their mls is starating to strictly enforce fines on those agents who are not updating their listings every 24 hours and that seemed to get them in the game.

Hey Barb, I do not think our mls and local board has any penalty involved, but will surley check again, as it happens way too much, prompting us to call all list agents, a little more time consuming. thanks.
