Fairhaven Historic District Neighborhood

 Fairhaven is the one of the southside neighborhoods of Bellingham, It was founded in 1880. It is one of Bellinghams most desireable neighborhoods, with its proximity to the water and it's quaint historic district. It is the site of the Alaska Ferry Terminal, the southern end of the Alaska Marine Highway System, as well as Amtack and bus terminals. It is close to Western Washington University

It was once an independent town, along with Whatcom & Sehome thatmerged with Bellingham1903 to become .the city we know today. Fairhaven has blossomed in recent years with growth of new retail space and businessess as well as lots of condos and the beautiful Village Green in its center where many local events are held as well as a Wednesday Farmer's Market from June through September.

 Fairhaven boasts of it's old charm with many old brick buildings remaining from the 1800's. There are lots of walking trails and Fairhaven Park close by. Many WWU students live in the area, it is home to a boat launch and easy access for kayakers. Padden Creek meanders through the neighborhood and Marine Park is one of it's treasures.
