If you are from out of state and have a Michigan relocation in your future Canton is a town you should look at. Canton MI is a town that has easy access to major freeways. A short commute to Ann Arbor or Downtown Detroit. Only a short trip to Detroit Metro airport makes it great for business traveler. Canton or Canton Township are one and the same community. Metro Detroiters use both those names but they are one and the same community.
Canton Township officials have carefully planned the growth of Canton MI. It has grown quickly from a farming community to a community with beautiful parks and nice subdivisions. With homes ranging from $150,000 to up to $450,000 there is a home style and size for any potential Metro Detroit home buyer. A safe place to raise a family. A place to create memories.
The township has a total area of 36.0 square miles and they estimate the population is over 86,000 residents. Canton has built up in the last 30 years. It wasn't unusual to see over 1500 homes to be built in a single year in Canton. In the 1970's it started growing with the completion of I-275 and I-96 freeway. It made access to downtown Detroit easy. Just like most of the country there have been more foreclosures in Canton in the last couple of years. First time home buyers and investors are starting to buy distressed bank owned homes for very reasonable prices as more homeowners lose their home through the foreclosure process in Canton. You can sometimes buy very nice Colonial homes for under a $100 a square foot in Canton.
Canton Golf Courses
Canton has two golf courses. Pheasant Run Golf Club is a great public 27-hole course covers more than 300 acres. Fellows Creek Golf Club has 27 holes over three unique nine-hole courses, which are played in three eighteen-hole combinations.
