I am Southern, born and bred. I grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina, graduated from NCSU (Go Pack!) and do not plan to live anywhere else (Seven Lakes, Pinehurst Area, that is). Being Southern is a gift and many who move here do so because of our Southern ways. You can't really move here and become Southern...as I said, you have to be born into it. Many joke about being Southern. We enjoy the roses...that is, we take things at a slower pace (another way to interpret "slow" is...we have patience). Yes, I am detailed oriented and want to help you find a home as soon as possible, but I also will pay attention to your wants and needs. Southerners will listen to you and enjoy getting to know you. When you visit our community, everyone waves. Yes, we are that friendly...we want you to know that you are welcome here. Our Southern "speak" is what some term the most humorous...we may say "bless your heart" five or six times in a conversation. If we say "kiss my grits"...we are not very happy with you.
I can cook Southern. While I enjoy other culinary experiences, it's the Southern comfort food that I most enjoy sharing with my family and friends. Fried green tomatoes, squash casserole, baby back ribs....oh, I can cook collards, too. My daughter loves my homemade chicken salad (has great stuff in it...roasted pecans, grapes, celery, and more). Being a realtor and being Southern goes together like peanut butter and jelly. We are made for each other. I love to turn my clients "onto" this area...our southern culture and our beautiful homes. It is not surprising that once someone moves to this area...they fall in love. What's there not to love? Great homes and property values, great people, and a community that cares. I will not only show and sell you a house, but as added value, I will share with you our Southern culture.
It does not surprise me that North Carolina tops the chart of the top five places to live in the U.S. According to the Anholt State Brands Index (see link beside this text) who surveyed 9,000 Americans regarding the appeal of all 50 U.S. states, they ranked NC as number 1!! Of course, our area is one of the areas that people flock to. Think of it...a resort area: over 40 golf courses, spas, lakes, equestrian venues, great schools, and southern charm. Why look further?
