My family and I are headed out to our cottage tomorrow morning. I am going to have some good quality family time.
Our cottage is located in the Irish Hills Area of Michigan, lots of lakes and the MIS Speedway is out there. ( Michigan International Speedway) Nascar races, if you're into it.
Our cottage is only about 45 minutes from our house in Saline, MI. If it was any further we would never go as that is my busy time of the year for selling houses.
In Michigan, when I first moved here from the South, I kept hearing the phrase, "We are going UP NORTH, for the weekend."
What is UP NORTH? Well, after living here for 25 years, it is anything North of S.E. Michigan. Michigan is known as " The Great Lakes State" not only because of it's 3,177 miles of lake shore but also because of the 11,000 inland lakes throughout the state.
Did you know that Michigan has more shoreline than any other state except Alaska ? Even more than Florida and that was a shock to me.
There are plenty of Memorial Day parades all over the state to salute war veterans - Coopersville, Lexington, Midland, Port Huron - just to name a few. Folks will line the streets and wave flags, bands will march, and families will head out to parks or their favorite weekend escape destination.

Me ? I'm going to be doing what I love best, spending time with my family, relaxing, playing games, tubing, jet skiing, wake boarding and reading at the lake. We all need down time, no cell phones, no computers, nothing to do with business. Well, will see if I can do it now that I suffer from the activerain addiction. If you see me here, tell me to GO AWAY !!
