For a very long time Floyd has had a yearly masters level event for his graduates and it's been called The Master Sales Academy. I think my first year to attend as a graduate was 1996! This year's event was fantastic, yet for 2010 Floyd decided to postpone. There's a funny thing happening to the convention industry right now...it's shrinking! Every major real estate company and NAR had significant drops in attendance at their 2009 annual conventions and one very large franchise isn't even having a national convention in 2010. I'm not sure but that may be a first. In any case, that got us thinking. Is it the best thing to ask our graduates to invest the couple of grand it would take to get to us right after the Christmas holiday? To be sure, some of our longtime attendees would be happy and eager to do it yet at the same time Masters always has a large group of first time attendees. People who are for the first time ever working Floyd's techniques into their business and if you remember, it can take a while to build up extra cash, especially if you are just getting back on your feet after going through the program.
For the record, we WILL have a gathering with our graduates. What it looks like could change quickly. What if we started fresh, with no history? What could we do? The possibilities are endless and I love it! This is what the Floyd Wickman Team is working on now. For the time being, we're going to gather at a smaller, lesser know event in July. It's called the Forum and it's not new. It's an intimate gathering with Floyd and some of his most dedicated students whom mid-year like to meet with Floyd and his trainers to ensure everyone is on track to hit their yearly goal. Have you heard of a BarCamp? Here's a link to the Real Estate BarCamp that explains it. NAR has a rep involved in it and who knows, maybe the Form could become a mix of what it was and a BarCamp.
