Hmmmm.....this one's tough, but not really.  You may have guessed Hamptons which is more universally known as the New York City get away spot.  But more specifically, its Amagansett -- which is east of East Hampton before you take the road to Montauk.  If you're looking for affordable vacation homes in Amagansett, it may be a better time to buy than usual.  Affordable?  Maybe not.  Especially when a beach house sold for 107 million dollars in 2007.  The Hamptons, which is notoriously a playground for the ultra rich, coming from New York City on helicopters and ferraris, has prices to match.  Although a great way to experience the Hamptons can be an affordable vacation rental in Amagansett.  I rented a little cottage there a few years ago with 20 other friends and had a blast, so Amagansett has a special place in my heart.

With just over a thousand year round citizens, the quaint East Hampton hamlet of Amagansett might be incredibly small; however, it does lure some heavy hitters onto its gorgeous sandy shores.
