How Not To Be In The Doghouse With Clients
too cute not to repost - thanks Gary!
Working with people is never easy and even when a Realtor, Stager or other industry professional interacts with various types out there, things don't always go smoothly. Maybe we just need a few tips to remember in
How Not To Be In The Doghouse With Clients.
- Take note of our four legged furry canine friends. They seem to be doing just fine in this people business.
- Warm Eyes - Connect with people on a friendly level. Show genuine concern. No one cares what you know until they know you care.
- Bark Often - leave no doubt about your knowledge in your specialty and with a committed client, share freely your advice and direction from you area of expertise. Do not hide your light under a bushel basket.
- Be your breed - poodles generally are hyper, Great Danes are big, Labrador Retrievers are huggable family dogs. Do your specialty, stick with it and bring in others for areas outside yours.
- No Dropped Balls - Details are very important in real estate and paying attention to them. Don't let things slide, fall through the crack, or you "forget" about something. Write it down if it is a future "to do."
- Lick their face - This will get your client's attention. Make this business experience as fun as possible along the way, despite the ups and downs. With the long sales cycle whether you like it or not you are building memories. For a buyer or seller, make them good memories.
- Best friend for life - every former client won't stick in your life, but many will. Stay in touch. It is what repeat business and referral business is all about. Staying in touch doesn't have to be all about real estate either. Be a human friend to their lives. You may just turn out to be a best friend between the two of you.
