If you are looking for an urban retreat in downtown Dallas, One Arts Plaza should be on your short list. The 24 story building, located on the east side of the Dallas Arts District, on the corner of Flora and Routh, overlooks the Dallas Arts District venues.  The interior of the building is best described as casual elegance.  The open floor plans of the residences use their square footage wisely. Views are striking from the expansive windows. Architects designed the interior walls of the building so that doorways to and air vents are nearly invisible.  The moment you enter a residence your eyes are drawn to the generous balconies and the breathtaking views of the city. The building's interior is a work of art.

One Arts Plaza is also home to many businesses including the Thomson & Knight Law Firm and 7-Eleven, Inc.

Five restaurants call One Arts Plaza home.  They surround the outdoor plaza and fountain.

Tei An, earned the honor of best new restaurant in Dallas in 2008. The restaurant is well known for Chef Teiichi Sakurai's handmade soba noodles. Tei An continues to receive rave reviews.

The Screen Door characterizes itself as a southern modern restaurant.  Executive Chef, Fitzgerald Dodd, who grew up in Dallas, uses local organic meat and produce in his cooking.  Imagine your grandmother's favorite recipes prepared with a twist and artfully served.  Every item on the menu is delicious!

If you feel like traveling back to the 1940s era for great Italian food, Fedora-Restaurant and Lounge is the place for you.  From paninis to pizza, the food is delicious. The mixed drink menu is as creative as the restaurant itself. Visit the Fedora website to get a small taste of the restaurant's ambiance!

Jorge's is the place to be if you are in the mood for Tex-Mex.  In addition to the eclectic Tex-Mex menu, Jorge's features a daily mixed drink special.  This restaurant is open for breakfast/brunch through dinner daily.

Stop in at the Dali Wine Bar to sip a glass of wine or share a bottle of fine wine with friends. One can simply have wine and a delicious appetizer, or choose something from Dali's Small Summer Plate Specials. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner daily.

The next  time you visit the Dallas Arts District enjoy One Arts Plaza!

We lived in Dallas only two years --- and during that time, we explored the area by following our noses and our stomach. Armed with the Entertainment Book, we tried a lot of restaurants, and were pleasantly surprised at the abundance of good places to eat. We lived uptown, on Cole Ave, across the street from the new shopping center that was not quite finished at that time. I managed to drop in Tommy Bahama, but none of the restaurants were open then.

So I have very fond memories of Dallas with the exception of the oppressive dry and prickly heat in the summer.
