Chopping documents sounds so brutal! This really is something that is necessary if you want to be paperless, though. We typically receive documents for transactions via email or e-fax. When these documents come to us, there are often several documents in the group. To have a clearly documented file, though, we want these documents to be filed separately in their assigned placeholders. So, to separate the group, we "chop" the documents in SureClose.
The first thing you need to do to "chop" is have the document in a TIFF format. You are not going to be able to separate a PDF. If the document group has come to you in PDF format, you can convert it to a TIFF by using your SureClose upload feature. If you need more information on this, see my blog: Helpful SureClose Hint for Today (SureClose Upload).
Now that the document is a TIFF, when you open it, you should have an option at the top of the page (in the blue navigation buttons) to "chop". Once you click on this option, your task wizard should pop up. Each page is identified with its own little numbered square. Just check which boxes you want in your first document and then click "next". This will take you through the same steps as you would go through to file a document, but it will only file the pages that you check marked. Then, just repeat the steps for each page.
If you have any questions, any one of us at Realt-eTransAct would be happy to help you. I hope this helps!
