YouMail.com should be called YouWOW!

This is a MUST HAVE. So Don't think "Will I" instead think "How do I sign up?"

YouMail.com Rocks. It is like the ShamWOW of the world of voicemail.

YouMail.com does two main things. One for free and one for $7 a mo.

(Before I get started, the basics of Youmail is you have your unanswered calls forward to Youmail's special number, so it acts as your voicemail)

1) FREE:

Customized voicemails PER incoming caller ID number. So you have a greeting customized for that client. "Yo Bill, sorry I can't make the call, cuz you know I'd run across a busy highway to get your call if I could." THEY LOVE IT.

Also If you put in an offer for a house and are expecting a call... but also heading into a meeting. Change the voicemail for JUST that agent to hear, but make it sound like you changed ALL outgoing voicemail for them. For example "Hello, you have reached XYZ, please leav... oh and if this is Sally, I really wanted to get your call, but I stepped into a meeting, please Sally, leave a message." So Sally will think you she was important enough for you to change all of your outgoing voicemail greetings.

2) $7/MO Transcribe

Your voicemails then get transcribed by live humans. I think what they do is use speech to text and then have live humans spot check it for accuracy. It works great. I went 2 years without voicemail, I used AnswerConnect.com and AppleTreeAnswers.com / Apple Tree Answering Service / which use live operators to answer your missed calls... but it just didn't work well enough. The operators didn't get when my wife called and said "It is his wife" that the operator probably didn't need to ask for her name and email and phone number.

Anyhow, so Google Voice also has the first free custom voicemail, but their second part was not spot checked my a human. Does this matter? Yes. I have Google Voice and vs Youmail it sucks. I got a transcribed Voicemail that really made me think my wife was in a car accident. No joke, it was that bad.

So Youmail.com is a no brainer. It also has an iphone app. It also will email you and text you the transcribed VM and of course let you hear the VM if you are so inclined (why bother).

P.s. I gave this idea to a banker. Wow, he loved it. All of his clients felt like roaylty with a custom greeting.

Frank, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Been out doing real estate all day! Right now I just use the custom greeting. However, I can already see that i'm going to need the transcription part.

I have been using YouMail for about four months now and I LOVE it!!! It is the most awesome thing ever! I love the caller ID function of it as well and especially the voice mail tailored for blocked caller ID and unknown numbers!!! FABULOUS!!!

Frank, thanks for this. I have heard of some of these transcribe services. Very cool and affordable too. Definitely helps the busy person... I like the transcription by live humans vs. machine. Too many errors with the machine.

I have been hearing great things about this -- especially the $7 per month. It is really hard to listen to a voicemail in the car and try to remember the phone # of the person you need to call back, so the transcibe option would be fantabulous!

Way to cool Frank! I love new technology....will definitely do so more research on this promising product.

Great tool, I signed up and hope this works out for me. It will be nice to not have to go to voice-mails and have them sent in real time.

I've been using youmail for almost a year now. I use the free package and I'll admit I haven't taken advantage of the bells and whistles..I just like being able to listen to my voicemail online vs. having to call my voicemail number all of the time.

OK Frank as TLW pointed out earlier I am now a user and fan of YouMail.com. I only have one phone. my iPhone. All calls from any of my numbers goe to my phone. So I.....

Set up personal greetings for my regular callers so they don't have to listen to my long winded company voice mail
Set up personal greetings for my sellers
While on hold with a short sale lender (all day long) can listen to my voicemail on my computer and can respond accordingly.
No more phone tag. I can just leave the info in their personalized voice mail.

Frank, I signed up after reading your post. It sounds great, it says it doesn't work well with Sprint or that they charge 20 cents per forwarded call.

Is anyone else using Sprint that is having this issue?

I've been using YouMail for over a year now and absolutely LOVE it. People are simply amazed at their customized greeting.

I have been using it for a long time now. My other must have is Vlingo wihich converts voice into text on your phone to I donlt have to type while driving.

I will definitely try this also.

I agree as well that it's an awesome tool; UNLESS, you have Sprint as your service provider. They charge for forwarded calls and therefore, it'll cost ya! However, they have a GrabIt add-on (for Sprint customers) that will check your voicemail up to three times per day (not enough!). So, unfortunately, I got rid of YouMail. However, with another provider (other than Sprint) I'd say, it's an incredible must have. I'll be switching soon.

Someone mentioned Sprint charging for call forwarding - yes, they alone among themajor carriers are currently charging 20c/minute for that feature. However, don't hestiate to sign up for a YouMail account (w/o completely the forwarding step), as we believe that's likely to change in the not too distant future, and we will be notifying all Sprint users with YouMail accounts if and when it does.

The other thing worth mentioning is that we have an iPhone application available through iTunes (it's quite early but very usable, with our version 2.0 soon to come out), a Blackberry application available through AppWorld, and an Android application on Android Market. All of these are worth checking out if you have any of these phones, and we're constantly improving them.
