13 Steps to Unhappiness (to be rid of)

By

Of course, I'm not wanting to encourage people to be unhappy by writing this kind of post. But what I am wanting to do is to point out some habit patterns that can and oftentimes do contribute to a person's unhappiness. And maybe one or more of these is a stumbling block for you? And could it be that's why your heart's so heavy?

13 Steps to Unhappiness (to be rid of):

  • Measure your success by someone else's.
  • Rehearse your failures over and over again.
  • Hang around people who are discontent.
  • Set your goals so high not even Superman could reach them.
  • See the glass as half full with a hole in the bottom of it.
  • Undermine another person's happiness. ("If I'm not happy, no one deserves to be.")
  • Never release/forgive those who have hurt you.
  • Worry about things that are beyond your control.
  • Be mad all the time.
  • Wear a frown on your face.
  • Turn your back on those in need.
  • Be convinced the world owes you a living.
  • Raise your voice and yell when you don't get your way.

Unfortunately there seems to be more and more people that fall into the habit of being miserable, and I believe that's exactly what it is, a habit.

As with all habits, dropping them is hard to do. I think the very first step to be on your way to happiness is hang around happy people. Just as gossiping and complaining is contagious, so is laughter and complimenting.

As they say...

Try it, you'll be glad you did.
