Up-sell your clients a Neighborhood Environmental Report

Services for Real Estate Pros with Environmental Data Resources

Environmental reports are definately becoming a more frequent part of home inspections.  This is largely happening for two reasons.  First, states like AZ are introducing environmental disclosure bills which encourage the seller to disclosure a home's proximity (or usually lack there of) to nearby contaminated properties.  Second, buyers are consuming more and more information about neighborhoods.

Many information companies now offer such reports, including Environmental Data Resources (EDR:  the company that I work for).  In addition to EDR (www.edrnet.com) these reports are also supplied by First American and a number of the California natural hazard disclosure companies.

These reports are best delivered by a home inspector who is then able to explain the report's findings directly to the buyer and buyer's agent.

In the vast majority of cases, environmental reports simply confirm that the home is not located near anything of concern and the buyer is provided with peace of mind (a la  CarFax when buying a pre-owned car).

By offering this service to your realtors and their clients, home inspectors have a great chance to add additional value and generate more revenue per inspection.
