For those familiar with Plantation Road in Lewes and Rehoboth Beach Delaware, the two lane residential area that runs behind the business complexes on the Route 1 corridor needs to remain residential. A planned 22,500 square foot medical complex is not a welcome addition to the upscale neighborhood. Plantation Road is a well used road for locals, keeping residential traffic away from Coastal Highway. The proposed complex would impede the traffic flow of the 11 subdivisions found in the immediate area. Setting a conditional use precedence in the area would open the door for further commercial zoning and development and would run contrary to the purpose of the bypass road for those residents living off Plantation Road and the surrounding areas. With the 1400 to 1500 homes in the area's developments, there seem to be very little need for a medical complex in that particular area. Simliar to the Lingo Townsend Development that is running into heavy opposition, this proposed construction would be better suited amongst other like facilities.
