Let Prospects get to Know You - Life Before Active Rain and Now
Before Active Rain
As someone fairly new to Active Rain, I still have much to learn. I can remember before becoming a part of this community how most of my marketing efforts centered on advertising and traditional networking. Both of these methods can be very good approaches to marketing and I was having a good year.
One admonition, I heard from business coaches, was that prospective customers tend to do business with those that they “Know, Like and Trust.” This thought resonated for a long time as I looked for ways to help potential clients get to know me. Traditional networking is a very personable way that provides a forum for really getting to know a few people.
Sensing a Need to Write
During my networking activities, I repeated heard others talk about writing as a way to lend creditability to your skills. While, I don’t believe that writing makes one an expert, I do believe that it can lend creditability and helps people get to know you.
Writing to Share
I was invited to Active Rain many months ago by someone in the community not even sure who that person was now, but only joined in August. I faced several challenges from the beginning, one I had never blogged though I have written articles and speeches in the past. Two, I was a CPA with real estate investing as a passion and making taxes less taxing as a profession.
Now, blogging is becoming a passion and a way to share what I know, learn and let others get to know me. In my short time here I have had some very useful contacts, became aware of potential business partners and met many great people.
I am seeing more traffic at my website and recognize that more and more of it is coming from Active Rain. This has proven to be a good platform to share who I am and to spread information that might be helpful to the community and others that might come to visit.
