Referral

Ever received a referral from a colleague?

Great way to for companies to spread commission splits around. I got one from a collogue in another state. I took the referral thinking I can help out and get paid. The thing is I'm doing all of the work. No problem. But, how many people should be paid a referral fee if there are three agents on the buyere side because it was a referral from a referral?

I pay a referral fee to for getting me this referral?

I would pay them both...It was the relationship from the out of state agent with your former colleague and your relationship with that same colleague that allowed you to make any commission in the first place.  My motto.......Half of something is better than all of nothing!

I agree, and would pay both.  I always try to think of the golden rule when my decision is hard, it seems to point in the right direction every time :)

I would also pay them both.  You should do what you think is the right thing but if it was me I would pay them both out and thank them for the referral and the opportunity.

You never know where it will take you later on down the road.

I agree, I would pay them both.  You never know where a referral will lead down the line and it could end up being very profitable for you.

A similar motto to Richard's "100% of nothing is still nothing."  Without the referral you would have nothing.
