I finally got around to making a database of my past clients and friends. The results have been nothing short of mind boggling! I have been sending out a monthly newsletter that I produce and then am following up with a call. 2 referrals out of the blue so far! Both Oceanfront clients that should spend in reason almost a Million CDN between the two. Man - How stunned have I been over the years!

Anyway - I would be willing to share some of my content with anyone else out there that has a similar system. What else do you mail out? I'm thinking of a generic magnetic calender / note pad with a pen to make notes with. With my face on it somewhere. 

I'm looking for some real nifty ideas. Please Comment!

Paul, congratulations on setting yourself up for a successful business!  Your sphere of influence is your most imporant asset as an agent, next to your experience.

What we have seen at our company is that people like things that bring value and is on the "soft sell" side for asking for business.  Does your company create a market report?  Send it out.  Do you have any press articles (either that include you or are just relevant to the customer)?  Send it out.  Do you know your client's birthdays?  Send a card or note.  What is the anniversary date of your clients purchase? Send them soemthing to congratulate them.  Do you have daylight savings?  Email a reminder to change clocks.  Winter coming?  Send a quick checklist for winterizing or steps to take to decrease heating bills.  Does your community have a calendar of events?  Send it out.  Is there a boating event?  Notify your sphere.

While I think pens, pencils and calendars are nice every once in awhile - there are many ways to add value that express your personal attention to your customers, your area of expertise and are less expensive.

Over the years I have received a lot of promotional items from Realtors. I always love pens and notepads are handy as well. My favourites have to be the magnets that contain useful information suc as measurement conversions or turkey cooking guideleines.
