No Magic Bullet......in life or real estate

When I was a kid we were told by Hollywood that a single silver bullet would kill a vampire. Having such a bullet is good thing if you ever needed to kill a vampire. I kind of liked that theory because the alternative was to drive a stake thru the heart. But, that would be just so messy and besides you would need to get up close and therefore subject yourself to being bitten. Oh, wait. That was for killing a werewolf. Garlic and a Cross of Jesus is what you need for protection against a vampire. It is so hard for me to keep all these remedies straight.

Magic Bullet

Let's see, the silver bullet was also the bullet of justice, law and order for my masked friend and hero, the Lone Ranger. Later, the silver bullet became an awesome rock band and a very watered down beer. Back in 1963 the magic bullet was the term used to describe the single bullet theory for the assassination our late President John F. Kennedy by the Warren Commission. Yet, in 2007 we were introduced to a new Magic Bullet that could replace "all the appliance contraptions" you "got for wedding gifts". It seems we are always looking for a quick fix "magic bullet" for replacing hard work. But, I regress.

I am sure, like me, you have found that there is no magic bullet in life or in this business of real estate. There is just no simple way to reach that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow without doing the hard work. I have tried to find a quick fast cure that will put me ahead of my peers in customer service with pagers, web sites, email, SELL phone, MySpace, LinkedIn, Facebook, Tweeter, ActiveRain, and many other platforms to get my name out to the home buyers and sellers.  And, while they are great tools to help get the job done - none are the magic bullet to guarantee an increase in pay.

After attending a motivational class the other day, held by my broker, it seems there is nothing NEW under the sun for success in real estate. No Magic Bullet. But, maybe FIVE bullets: A Dream, Setting a Goal, Preparing a Business Plan, Stay Focused, and Discipline will take you to the SUCCESS in real estate sales. What do you think? Do you have five bullets?

Greg - I like your idea about the bullets.  I grew up on Westerns and the Lone Ranger was always a favorite.  Maybe I'll start doing a little Hi O Silver myself.
