LLC?  S-Carp?  Which is better for an agent?  Is either better?  Do we need to be one or the other?

These questions have been banging around offices for some time now.  I am convinced that the real reason that most agents have not become either isn't because they are not good options.  But rather the agents do not take the time to find out about them.  Tell me your thoughts....are you LLC or S-Corp?  Why or why not?

Just FYI, we are going to S-Corp this year.  (We is me, myself and I).

I think you should expand on this post to talk about the differences... make it more informative

I have an S-Corp,,, but as a Mortgage Broker I cannot use it... license laws are different and payment can only be made to the individual licensee, not an "entity"...

both have good features... I think it depends on liability issues... tax wise I think that they get treated very similarly.

Most of the agents I know that have gone this way have gone S-corp, I don't know of anyone who has gone LLC, unless they are using it for investments.

Thank you for your feedback.  I have a meeting set up with a collaborative group of professionals to discuss this topic.  I will provide positive and negative feedback from that meeting.  It sounds as though you are well versed on this topic?  Can you provide us with some insight?
