Presents, food, decorations, traveling essentials… Everyone is geared up to spend, and many people save all year to enjoy a luxurious holiday season. One thing that seems to get overlooked is real estate. If you’re in the position to sell and are thinking of delaying it until the start of the New Year, think again. The benefits of listing during this time of year are huge, and I’ve compiled a list to help you make that decision to list your home now.

13 Reasons to list during the Holidays from November to January

1. With others taking their homes off the market and those waiting to list means that there is less competition for your home.

2. Winter prospects are more serious buyers.

3. Your home looks better during the holidays.

4. More homes are sold than are listed during this time of year –again, less competition.

5. Expanded Home Buyer Tax Credit, for First-Time Home Buyers and new Existing Home Buyer Credit have increased the pool of buyers and they only have until April to buy.

6. You may receive more money for your home now because you have less competition.

7. You may greater freedom to restrict showings throughout the holiday season, making it more convenient to have your home on the market.

8. Buyers have more time to look at homes during the holidays, especially during vacations.

9. January is traditionally the biggest transfer month and you must be on the market to capture that audience.

10. By selling now you can have a delayed closing or extended occupancy until the beginning of the following year (if you want it).

11. When you sell during the winter you have an opportunity to buy
during the spring, when many homes are on the market.

12. You may have fewer actual showings, but more qualified and motivated prospects.
