Favorite Parks in the Redmond WA Area . . . Farrel-McWhirter (one of Redmond's best kept secrets) . . .

Paws down, Farrel-McWhirter is Ziggy's favorite park.  It truly is the hidden secret gem of Redmond, not far from Woodinville.
Farrel-McWhirter 1
There are 68 acres of beautiful trails among spectacular trees, as well as open areas that include picnic tables, BBQ's, swings, public facilities, restrooms, barns, a horse arena and fenced areas where farm animals can roam around.

Among the animals are cows, horses, pigs, chickens, goats, rabbits, a turkey and a donkey.

Last year a bear was reportedly seen in the woods, but apparently it moved on without any trouble.

Farrel-McWhirter is a former farm. The entire working farm area has been beautifully preserved and maintained.  There's almost a Brigadoon "rising from the mist" feel about it.  Nestled in the tall trees, it's not hard to imagine what the whole Eastside of Puget Sound must have looked like around the turn of the century.

Kids get to see and interact with farm animals in a natural environment and can take supervised group rides on the ponies.  It's impossible not to feel good here.

This is a little piece of heaven and it's free.  Ziggy starts to paw the car window when we pass the Farrel-McWhirter  sign on Avondale.  We try to convince ourselves that he just recognizes the area and isn't really reading the sign.

Come visit and have a special time . . .
