Grants Pass High School - District 7

Grants Pass High School - District 7.   Grants Pass High School originally opened in 1885 in a wood building located at Fourth and C Streets.  The first graduating class was in 1888.  The new school was built in 1911 and the English building was added in 1939 with various other additions occurring between 1948 - 1969.

Grants Pass High School has seen a total remodel in recent years and now resembles that of a college campus.  GPHS is a state of the art high school, complete with a Performing Arts Center, which is also used as a convention center and theater for the community.  In addition to the Performing Arts center, GPHS offers the commons, an arts/science building, vocational/technical building, and the new Heater/Newman Gym.

The Competition Gym was constructed with ‘pit' style seating and has an indoor running track.  There's also a smaller practice gym in the same complex.  A new 'high play' field was also installed which is used primarily for football and soccer games, as well as band competitions, and offers stadium seating on both sides of the field.

Grants Pass High School - District 7

The Grants Pass High School - District 7 campus is located at 830 NE 9th Street and spans over 47 acres of land in the heart of beautiful downtown Grants Pass, Oregon.  It's a sight to behold, and an awesome high school for the community.  Feel free to contact me for more information about Grants Pass, Oregon.  It's a great place to live!

Very impressive...especially for a high school in Oregon with all of our state-wide public revenue issues.

Funny thing though, Grants Pass school district patrons have done well by their high school while the Josephine county government languishes in fiscal pain with the decline in federal timber monies.

The fact that Lane, Douglas, Coos and Josephine County citizens have never historically paid their own way regarding county government has made them all more able to fund their schools....while other services from libraries to jails now go begging.

Jim ~ I believe GPHS received a Bond to the tune of 32 million for remodeling this one school.  While the rest of the Josephine County Schools received less than that, to be distributed between 13 county schools.  While our county schools continue to suffer (i.e. less tax base), our city schools are doing quite well (higher tax base).
