Wedding Bells

I rarely blog about anything besides real estate.  After all this is a real estate forum and it's purpose is to spread information about real estate.  That being said, I've become addicted to blogging and need an outlet.

23 years and 7 months ago I had a baby boy.  It seems like yesterday!!!  I remember very well how his little bald head shined when we were in the pool together and how his smile melted my heart.  Saturday my baby boy is getting married.

It's hard to see someone that you feel you still need to nurture and protect making adult decisions and I'm doing my best to cope with it.  It does help that I still have two kids in the nest, a 16 year old and 13 year old.

For those of you with little one's...make sure you spend a little extra time with them this holiday.  Before you know it they'll be walking down the aisle!!!!

Congratulations Chris!  My husband and I made the trek back from Omaha alone and I was SOOOO sad because my son is going to be a senior in high school and I have no idea how many more road trips are left in the bag.

Congrats Chris! My oldest "baby" will be 20 in Oct and he hasn't started dating if you can believe it. But things change fast don't they? He was just a little bundle of baby fluff yesterday.

Chris - what a big occasion - we're the opposite - we waited to have our kids so it's still a long way away. Hope it was truly a special day. My wedding anniversary is next week and I still feel blessed that our actual wedding was so enjoyable - a great memory!

Laurie, thanks!  It was truly a memorable day!

Renee, sounds like the time I took him for school and dropped him off in Oklahoma.  Felt like I'd cut my arm off and left without it!  That first trip you take alone is the start of it!!! Take lots of road trips now so that you can enjoy him!

Ashley, keep him not dating for a while!!!  They really grow up and seperate from the family when it happens!

Cyndee, I may need to borrow your kids for a while.  I'm in denial that I'm that old and that he really has a family (just him and her, but still a family) of his own now.

Susie, it really was exciting!  Still wish he was back to babyhood though...I'm a reluctant middle ager!!!

Teri, It flies way too fast!  The wedding was wonderful though.  I just love seeing him play dress up...uhh...I mean in a tuxedo!!!  I remember when I couldn't get him to wear anything but a T-shirt and I was shocked that he acted SO into it!  Even danced the whole night through!!!

Chris - Congratulations! It is ironic; we raise them to be self sufficient adults who will be productive, yet, we still want to care for them. Once a Mom, always a Mom.

Now grandkids is a whole other story..........

Paula, if I told you the honeymoon story you'd know he isn't quite self sufficient yet :)  Anyway, we all have to learn!!!  I felt like going to the airport and holding both their hands to get on the plane!

They are there now though and Jason called today to say that they have a top hat and veil with mickey mouse ears!!!   HOW CUTE!!!

Oh but now come the grandkids!  There is nothing quite like grandchildren.   You couldn't spoil your own kids like you can the grandkids, and kids always go through stages where Mom and Dad are dumb, corny, stupid or just plain old.  Grandkids never think those things about grandparents and you are just really special to each other.  Of course, then they turn into teenagers and that is another story for a while!

But there is always a special link that doesn't fade.

I'm ready and waiting Joanne!!!  Kristine, my daughter in law, has three nephews and one came here with the kids to spend Easter with us since his parents were out of town.  Boy did I have fun!!!!  He ended up calling my husband "paw-paw" which was SO cute!!!  We spoiled him rotten and then sent him back!!!

Chris,

I would never have believed it - you look too young to have a grown son.  Your daughter-in-law looks so happy in the pictures!  I am trying to treasure my kids but they are growing up so fast and time sure seems to be flying by.
