Tony * supposedly HUD/FH complaints are to be SECRET to protect the complainants(s); however, more and more, fair housing advocates in the search to pat themselves on the back are issuing press releases WITH the complaintants' names.  I think THIS press release should be the basis for a complaint in itself.

In actuality * rarely are these fines paid and the the costs to the American tax-payers is ridiculous..,,thanks for posting this.

Fair Housing does exist so people need to be on board or face the consequences.

Hmmm... Familial status is definitely a no-no, but here for apartments, I believe they allocate 2 people per bedroom, which means the 4 bedroom still qualifies. I'm not sure how someone could be such a big Boo-Boo on this one.

My point is that this appears to be a HUD press release with NO hearing yet before an Admin Law Judge.....there may have been a finding of fact in the investigation; however, the press release prejudices the complainant (would-be tenant) MORE than the respondent (landlord/agent) since her name is now associated with a fair housing complaint.

These press releases are a fairly new protocol change because of the need to publicize their continued activities on the issue of fair housing and justify funding levels.

I always GOOGLE would-be applicants and if something like this came up on GOOGLE, it would prejudice my decision to rent to her BECAUSE of the litigation aspect. HUD should NOT publicize the names of those involved.  The DoJ website used to mask the names or delete them from the public items.

It is only a matter of time before someone starts a data-base of these names to sell to landlords for their screening process.

It boggles my mind that anyone in the business would be so stupid as to turn a single mother down due to number of people unless they were over the 2 per bedroom thing.

Leslie * I suspect the broker and landlord are not pros and do not have the knowledge or expertise much less fair housing education to appropriately represent the home for lease.
