Greg McClelland is our Attorney for the Michigan Association of Realtors.
Back in the summer he rendered an opinion on being able to use Land Contracts in Michigan for claiming the tax credit.
I immediatley posted on it and I am still getting comments and requests for the opinion. Let's say 75 on an outside blog is unbelievable at least for me.
Greg was recently in Ann Arbor teaching a law course on short sales with 2 hours of continuing education. I was so excited to be able to meet Greg and tell him how successfull his opinion had been and the result of posting on it.
One of our Michigan Congressman picked up the post and sent the opinion to the IRS and they in turn confirmed that land contracts in Michigan were acceptable for claiming the tax credit.
Ed Sackley, from Congressman Fred Uptons staff had sent me the confirmation letter and told me to let my blogging friends in Michigan know.
I have received so many calls from across the nation on this as well as in Michigan with people wanting to either sell or were purchasing on land contract.
I know many Realtors here are not in love with NAR or their State Realtor Associations but they really do a good job. Greg jumped all over this, researched it and rendered an opinion which has helped many people be able to buy a home.
