Congratulations Parkwood! You were voted best Kensington neighborhood and have been recognized for your "retro vibe" and charm. Though they neglected to acknowledge that part of the neighborhood actually sports a Bethesda address, here are several highlights from the article written in the most recent edition of Bethesda Magazine listed below:
Close proximity to I-495, NIH, Strathmore, downtown Bethesda, Historic Kensington-as well as easy access to Rock Creek Park
Close knit community "block parties, community yard sales and lemonade stands"
Bordered by Beach Drive, Cedar Rd and Westbrook Lane
Original homes built between 1948 and 1953
Consists of 783 homes
As a fellow Parkwood Resident - I am proud to say that I live in this years Best of Bethesda's Best Kensington neighborhood (that's mouthful). I can't blame them for voting our neighborhood number one. What's not to love - convenience, community and charm! I should also mention that communities that came in as a close second include - Rock Creek Hills, Chevy Chase View and Kensington Historic District.
What do you love about Parkwood?
