Tahoe cross country ski area in Tahoe City web site
is a great place to enjoy the outdoors. The ski area offers miles of groomed trails for both skating and striding. The trails are well marked for different levels of skiing from the beginner to the expert. Ski with your dog! Dogs are permitted Monday through Friday (non-holidays) 8:30am to 5:00pm and 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm during weekends and from December 24 through January 3. Dogs are permitted on two designated trails only.
Lakeview is one of my favorite trails, it’s quite a workout to the top but the views are well worth it. I have not been to the top of Lakeview this year, but I do plan to make the climb in a couple weeks, at which time I will post pictures of the view from the top on my website.
If cross country skiing is not for you, there are also trails for snowshoeing. Snowshoeing can be a fun way to spend the day. Be prepared, it is a workout, especially if you are not use to the altitude. So bring a picnic and plenty of water, take your time and enjoy the day.

If you don’t have your own equipment, the Tahoe Cross Country Ski Area has a complete rental and repair shop with a professional staff to assist with all your questions. I have used there repair shop for both waxing and repairs and have always been impressed with the quality of repair and overnight service.
After skiing, the Free Heel Cafe located inside the day lodge is a great place to warm up and have lunch. The cafe menu includes soup, sandwiches, baked goods, smoothies and hot drinks. The day lodge also has wireless internet access and a play area for the kids.
