Where to Party this New Year's Eve in Iowa City and Coralville

Tonight we're going to party like it's 1999... Prince had the right idea and with another decade behind us it's the perfect opportunity to party hard again as we ring out the old decade and step into 2010.

Looking for ideas? I have a few for you that caught my eye here in Iowa City and Coralville...

The Englert
has got quite a show lined up with Public Property, Euforquestra & The Uniphonics. The start of a new decade warrants a big party and their first New Year's Eve Party since reopening in 2004 promises to be a "not to be missed" affair.

If you're a regular reader of my blog you'll know there's always something going on at The Mill in Iowa City and naturally New Year's Eve is no exception They're going with an Irish theme and Wylde Nept is playing, (and as we all know, the Irish know how to party!)

Not to be outdone, Wildwood Smokehouse & Saloon is another popular venue and they have a great evening lined up too. Strangely Familiar is playing there and there will be free beads and party favors and champagne at midnight...

And the partying continues at the Riverside Casino with a rocking evening lined up with the band Synergy. And if you're out early enough they have a special buffet starting at 4.00pm through close for the clever price of $20.09. Follow the food, sounds like a great plan to me... It's always good to eat well before you have a night on the town. (Sounded like my mother there - don't you just hate it when that happens?)

Not wanting to leave Coralville out I think I'll finish off with telling you that Mcphisto will be rocking the house down at Gus' Food & Spirits at Coral Court, playing favorites from ZZ Top and AD/DC.

Now of course these are just a few things that caught my eye and probably just the tip of the iceberg.
We have loads of bars in Coralville and Iowa City that I'm sure will be going all out to celebrate us stepping into a new decade. This is a college town, of course we have a lot of bars! Almost as many as my home town in Wales. (Not quite though - I always tell people there are more pubs than churches where I come from - And if you watch British sit-coms I'm sure you'll already know that!)

So that's me done for today. Wherever you are and however you decide to celebrate, I'd like to wish you a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year.

Denise,

THANK YOU! THANK YOU!  I clicked through on your link to the Wildwood Smokehouse, I read Wildwood's history page ... and it came back to me!  The Red Stallion in Coralville!  It was a favorite destination when I visited friends in Coralville many years ago.  I can still remember one particularly good-lookin' cowboy doing a rousing and rowdy cover of "I Got Friends In Low Places" ... :-)

Happy New Year Wishes for a GREAT 2010!
