Google Nexus One - Android Phone for Real Estate Agents

Google has just released today, the Google Nexus One - Android Phone.  Made to compete with the iPhone, the google phone is a strong contender.  Its operating system, Android, a google product has already been on the market for a while now, so we know its tried and true.  But the question you and I both have (obviously, since your reading this) is.... How is the Google Nexus One Phone (or Google Phone) for a Realtor or for a real estate business.

I just wrote an article on my website that lists some of the great features that are benefits to real estate agents.  Take a look and see how the Google Phone can make a difference in the way your conduct your real estate business.   http://defpc.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=51

Let me know how you may use this phone or others to conduct your real estate business!

Thanks for the article and link. I have been wavering on the new Droid. As a Verizon user it seems very attractive.

I have to agree Vickie,  I like the iPhone, but I just travel to too many places--some obscure to leave verizon...It just won't happen.  The android is a terrific operating system!

My understanding is that the phone's antenna for high speed data access is only compatible with frequencies used by T-Mobile in the U. S. so if you want to surf the web or use internet based applications your choice for a carrier is pretty limited.

True???

Really I did not know that the antenna was that much of a problem.

Very True John, It is GSM phone currently and works on T-Mobile, or you can get an unlocked one for AT&T - but it only works on EDGE not the faster 3G.

HOWEVER,  No later than spring, will the CDMA version for Verizon come out!

Which means, you will want to hold on for a little longer - but hey!  at least the bugs will be worked out by then.

Good point, glad you brought it up...I forgot to put it in the article, its getting late

I have this phone for a month now and it's been great! It's really sleek and being able to open multiple windows is a big plus for me.

I was lemming for the Iphone, glad I waited!

Nope, I have AT&T. I asked for a new SIM card from the store and popped it in. It's on EDGE, not 3G though.

The speed is fast enough for me. I can see that EDGE is definitely slower when downloading videos and maps. Other than that, the Nexus has been great! It's glued to my hand! I have been download apps for my real estate business. I hope there will be more apps for us in the future.

Jim,

I looked into it, I doubted very seriously that you could update it to CDMA, and I was right.  Its totally different hardware.  It will be avail. in the spring.  However, if you need a new phone now, look at the motorola DROID phone from verizon.  It runs Android 2.0, the Nexus One (google phone) runs 2.1, but expect the DROID to get the new 2.1 rom shortly
