Roll Tide!  Alabama vs. Texas in the 2010 BCS National Championship Game

Born and bred in Birmingham, I am one of those rare Alabamians that does not plan my life around college football.  That's not to say that I don't enjoy watching the games, because I do.  It's just that I could be just as happy going to the mall.  Shocking, I know!

Nearly everyone in Alabama has strong loyalties to either Auburn or Alabama and over the years even I have favored one or the other.  My husband and his family are serious Alabama fans.  My mom, brother, son-in-law, daughter and grandaughter are Auburn fans.  It's no wonder I'm so confused!  I don't have to be confused tonight though......gotta pull for the Crimson Tide!

A few minutes ago I heard the Alabama Million Dollar Band blasting one of their fight songs throughout the house.  Mike (hubby) is getting ready to watch his favorite team (Alabama #1) play in the BCS National Championship Game with Texas (#2) that is being played this evening in Pasadena CA.  He has on his new tee shirt that my mom got him for Christmas:

We are freezing here in Alabama, but the weather for the game in Pasadena is very nice.  Alabama is favored to win by 4 (that's what Mike told me).  Well, I guess it's time to go figure out snacks for the game.....it is less than an hour away.

ROLL TIDE!

My grandfather graduated from Alabama Poly-Technical Institute back in the 1920's. I hope Alabama celebrates after the game. It would be a great boost to your area. Texas is going to be a tough foe. Cheers to your team

Ann, I haven't been in Alabama long enough to form an attachment for either team.  Guess I'm still an Illini fan.

How was the weather down your way today?  We had a few road closings and not much snow, just cold and blowing.  Stay warm.

Ann - I consider myself a casual Texas fan, since I went to a small school with no football team.  I reserve my football energy for NFL stuff.  Alabama did indeed roll the tide over UT tonight - thankfully, I didn't plan my evening around it.  :-)

I was saddened to see Texas loose and now have to listen to my son clamor and fawn over the Bama win. :-(

Hi Ann,

Congratulations on the win last night!

Living in Austin I am obviously a Longhorns fan and I was devastated when Colt McCoy was taken out of the game after just a few minutes. I knew it was going to be an uphill battle. Our back-up quaretback struggled to start with but them seemed to settle and find some rhythm.  When we pulled back to 24-27 the great comeback was very much still on!

Sadly it was not to be and my heart goes out to Colt. A sad end a to great college career!

Steve

I think I made it through most of the third quarter before I fell asleep on the couch......at which point Mike suggested I go ahead upstairs and get in the bed where I would be more comfortable.

I did not realize until this morning that Texas had scored so many more points.  I was glad because they were struggling when I was awake I couldn't help but wonder how it may have turned out if Colt had been able to play.

Hi Ann, My husband's son played football for the Longhorns in the 1980's so of course we watched the game.  I was sorry to see Colt McCoy get injured but congratulations on the win!

Ann I'm not an avid sports fan either and coming from Detroit, the bit 'ta do' about college ball was a little hard to grasp when I first came to Alabama (many moons ago).  But like you, I'm definitely feeling that Alabama pride right now.
