Leavenworth Washington in the News

Our lovely Leavenworth, the Bavarian Village in the Cascades was the centerpiece of a nice article in the Seattle Times. It may be hard to find the perfect home here due to such low inventory, but it isn't hard to fall in love with Leavenworth. Coming over for Oktoberfest? Look us up.

Hi Geordie,

Any opinion about what the impending mill closure will do to Leavenworth area  property values?

That's a great question. Generally we look to the local economy as a big indicator of what the real estate market will look like. Certainly losing the mill is a big deal and I'm sorry to hear we'll be losing a number of good paying jobs.
That being said, I don't think it will effect the home prices that much. Most of the buyers in this market are second home and vacation buyers. I think any homes sold due to the mill closing will be in a price range that will get gobbled up either by locals hungry for affordable housing or by vacation buyers.
I think this closure will have a huge effect on the employees, but not much of an effect on the housing market.  I don't think we'll see a increase in foreclosures because demand is high enough that the owners can sell and walk away with profit.

Geordie,
I like your positive attitude.  Time will tell.
