In 2009 the town of Hyde Park had one of the most affordable inventory; because of this Hyde Park was one of the Dutchess County Town averaging more sales than most.
This is a market that saw many first time buyers who trying to beat the original November 30th deadline for the end of the $8000 first time tax credit. Good news this tax credit was extended and expanded and so I expect more first time buyers will be looking for a home between now and April 30th.
Why is the Hyde Park market attractive?
1. Location minutes from Poughkeepsie the county seat, there you will find the most government or county jobs,
2. Transportation - Not far from several highways, and of course, access to train. The Metro-North Station is just minutes away in Poughkeepsie. The train transports the many county residents who work in New York City.
3. Things to do- Historial sites and parks, walking trails, Bardavon, sports at Marist College to name a few.
