Business Card Reader Application for the iPhone/Blackberry

I finally found an iPhone/Blackberry application that will do all the work for me.

Instead of taking someone’s card and spending several minutes typing in all the contact information, I can just take a picture of the card and this Business Card Reader app will do all the work for me.

Within seconds, it will scan all the data on the card and upload it into my iPhone or Blackberry Phone Book as a contact, complete with website, e-mail address and all phone numbers listed on the card.  It even connects me to the person's LinkedIn profile.  Outstanding!   It doesn’t get any easier than this!  It’s well worth the $6 price tag ($6 for the iPhone;  $10 for the Blackberry).   Try it; you’ll love it!

Sounds like a winner to me.  Have you seen the bar code scanner apps that are out there?  I just bougt a droid phone and downloaded a free app that takes a picture of the bar code of any product and then compares prices on-line.  It is a buyers dream. . .

Hey, that was funny I think three people were trying to comment on this blog post at the same time and we ended up with duplicates (check out the time of the last three comments. . .

Nyles: Just in case anyone wonders: there are 11 pages of apps possible on the iPhone.  How do I know?  Because after the 11th page it wouldn't let me upload any more.  I am the application queen.  I actually have many more applications on "StandBy" in my iTunes, because I'm constantly trying new apps.  Some are free and some I pay for.  All in all, I could probably keep busy on an iPhone for as long as the battery lasts...  Facebook, Twitter, AR, LinkedIn, Yelp...  You name it; I have it!  Yes, the scanners are pretty nifty.

Stay tuned to my blog; for I review apps whenever I get excited about a new one.  Check out my old posts for some other nifty applications I couldn't live without.

Nyles:  Yes, I noticed, but I can't bring myself to delete the duplicates.  It still seems so impolite...

Rebecca:  You may want to get an iPhone.  I have both, but my iPhone can do so much more, plus it has so many more applications.  Just my two cents' worth.  I wasn't crazy about typing on it, but with the new 3G and most applications allowing for the horizontal typing, I can now employ both hands and type a lot faster on the iPhone than I used to be able to in the past.  The iPhone beats my Blackberry.  As a matter of fact, I am even thinking of dumping my Blackberry altogether.  My iPhone is THAT good!

My iPhone can do EVERYTHING: it's my e-mail, it's my Internet, my social media, my camera, my video camera, my calculator, my converter, my phone book, my gps, my picture editor, my TV guide, my movies, my iPod.  I even track my jogging and exercise regimens with it.  It's amazing!  If you still get a Blackberry because of your provider, you may want to get an iPhone Touch.  It's everything you have in an iPhone at a fraction of the cost and without having to marry AT&T for your cell phone needs (it's everything BUT the phone).  It uses wireless for Internet access and works every bit as well as an iPhone, without a monthly bill.

Sharon:  You'll love it!  Check out the CalcsFree or CalcsPro blog.  No Realtor should be without that app.

These new technologies are just amazing. I remember when I thought Dick Tracy had the cat's meow with his two way wrist watch.

How about matching that iPhone up to a Google Nexus with Android....in the spring when it goes Verizon?

Can you do voice recognition on iPhone?

Mirela, I don't have a so called smart phone, our cell service is sketchy in the mountains...but it has gotten better over the last couple of years. It may be time to finally upgrade the standard Mobile to a multi-function device. What do you like Apple - or Blackberry?...and is this app $4-$10 once or a monthly add on?

Hi Mirela,

Wow great app..thanks for sharing. Steve has a good questions is this a $6-10 add on to the monthly bill?

Finally a useful business app!  How does it work? (not the mechanics of it, but is it accurate?  some business cards are hard to read and hard for a person to decipher, let alone a phone figuring out a .jpg)

Steve and Dorie:  NO MONTHLY FEES - That amount gets the app and no extra costs after that.  It works the same way as purchasing any iTunes songs.  You pay for the songs and you're done.

Steve:  Apple is my nr. 1 choice, hands down the best phone I've ever had, EVER!

I even dropped my first iPhone in the toilet, rinsed and disinfected it afterwards and it still works.  I bought a new 3G and gave that one to my daughter, "The Phone Killer"; she's had it for several months and has not killed it yet.  Incredible, but true.

I prefer using my old blackberry because the keys are so much easier to use, but the new Blackberries are not quite as easy - the keys are so much smaller.  My old Blackberry is on its last leg and I don't like any of the new Blackberries.  I might have to become a one phone agent and let go of my second phone - the Blackberry.

Robert:  I got it right on my second try.  At first I tried to photograph the whole card and it did not read it correctly.  On the second try I centered the data, had good lighting, took a clear picture and it worked beautifully.

Jim:  I played with the first version of the Google phone and did not like it.  It's also significantly heavier than my iPhone.  I like my gadgets to be light.  I paid an arm and a leg for my MacAir in order to save two pounds.  I can lift them at the gym, but I don't want to tug them around every day...

Guy:  "the cat's meow", that's cute!

You know, with each new software program, gadget or application that I get in order to simplify my Life, I actually end up not saving any more time; I end up doing more business.  I just came back from Vacation and I need another Vacation!  I am too proficient!

That's one of the coolest things I've heard of. It's hard to keep track of all the cards as you can't take them with you everywhere you go. But, I bet we all have that phone with us everywhere we go :)

Good tip! Gotta find that app.

Found this by accident! So glad I did. New to AR and iPhone. So far, am enjoying both! Any suggestions on a calendar app? I really dislike the one that the phone  comes with.
