Greetings from Livonia MI, and the 2010 Floyd Wickman Winter Forum, due to begin this evening.  Gotta be there for the Awards Ceremony tonight - our Team is winning a Production Award for High Sales Volume last year!

Back home in Chicago, our Team Member Cathy Mallers brings us this week's edition of Chicago Neighborhood News.  This week, Cathy follows the Chicago Neighborhoods of Portage Park, Lakeview, The South Loop, and The Gold Coast, as well as the Chicago Suburb of Naperville IL.

PORTAGE PARK

Finally, it's warming up outside.  Why not go for a swim?  One place that is definitely a gem in the neighborhood is Portage Park - the actual park.  It's a location that is not only fabulous for spring/summer wedding backdrops and spending time with the family in the park but it's also a place where you can go swimming in the winter.

Even though it's starting to heat up, the outdoor pool is not yet open.  The indoor Olympic-sized pool is open and has a great schedule of activities for the entire family to enjoy.

LAKEVIEW

Get in your last chances for some great humor through Sunday at the Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival.  The Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival is an annual event that celebrates the best in local, national and international sketch comedy.

The Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival (Chicago SketchFest) debuted in January, 2002 and lasted six weeks.  Chicago SketchFest is the largest sketch comedy festival in the nation.  Chicago SketchFest experiments with sketch comedy under pressure giving participants eight hours to put together an entire sketch.

SOUTH LOOP

Last Thursday, Buddy Guy kicked off the 2010 season with a show at his Legends club.  Tickets are selling fast so be sure to get your tickets soon. The new location just up the street at 700 S. Wabash is set to open at some point in 2010 and Guy plans to play in the new location in January 2011.

"I'm working hard to keep the blues in Chicago, in the South Loop. I'm also working hard with the architects to make sure the new club looks as much as this one as possible," says Guy who is overseeing the construction of the new location.

GOLD COAST

Be on the lookout today for the Naked Cowboy as he enjoys his vacation in Chicago.  He's already been sighted on a couple local news outlets, but is always an enjoyable character to watch.  And yes, he's strictly in his own outfit, so we're glad that he is getting warmer weather.

As you know, the Naked Cowboy put in a bid for a short period of time last year to become mayor of New York and just as quickly found that politics were not for him.

NAPERVILLE

Naperville Township is coming to the forefront with a new technology being developed which uses yard waste to fuel the city's fleet vehicles.  With this new technology the city will be able to take 3% of the city's yard waste from branch collection and power seven fleet vehicles.

Naperville plans to create a new "green fuels depot" in the village, possibly as soon as next fall and is a carbon neutral process which is one of the best models for the environment.  Of specific benefit is that this technology can help farmers become energy independent.  Naperville's goal is "to be the leaders of (green) technology in the whole state and the whole country," Naperville Mayor George Pradel said.
