Encompassing thirty-three square miles of softly rolling greens and evergreen covered hills it is the last rural outpost in Northern Westchester. Much of Somers' former farmland has been gradually developed into numerous new developments, offering good, solid housing. One of these communities, called Heritage Hills, is situated around a challenging private golf course, the Somers Pointe Golf Club. It also features the well known Pinnacle Restaurant within it's premises. The nine-hole East Hill Golf Course is loacted right next door and is part of the Somers Pointe Golf Club.

Many more recreation opportunities abound with Reis Park offering ball fields, playgrounds, lighted tennis courts, a picnic pavilion, fitness trails and the town library. Koegel Park features nature trails, picnic sites and a woodland flower preserve. Bailey Park hosts many fine concerts. The Lasdon Estate is a Westchester County Park and is the site of the Vietnam War Memorial and Lasdon Bird Sanctuary. The Muscoot Interpretive Farm is a county park offering many interesting and educational programs throughout the year.

The Somers Shopping Center offers a number of small stores and grocery shopping, whereas the nearby Jefferson Valley Mall offers larger retailers such as Macy's and Sears, a great number of specialty retailers, a food court and a movie theater.

The Somers Central School District is made up of Primrose Elementary, Somers Intermediate, the Somers Middle School, and the Somers High School. The district also offers the largest special education library in the country.

Somers offers a wide variety of housing accommodating any lifestyle, taste, purpose or budget, including a number of planned developments within old farm lands. See also Somers Real Estate Statistics & Trends compiled by Trulia.
