With so many school districts in decline there is very good reason to live in Union County NC. That is that there is a pretty good school system here. Reading and math proficiency is above the state averages and math proficiency has been on a steady increase for the past several years.
When compairing SAT test scores with the entire state a similar trend is apparent as test scores are several points above the state averages. The county has been able to achieve these results even though they are spending just below the state averages per student for both operational and instructional spending. With more growth obviously will come more students, but the county has also welcomed industrial and commercial development within the county increasing the current tax base. There is every reason to believe that the trend in educational proficiency will continue to increase.
Why not suggest Union County as a great place to work and live if you have anyone considering moving to the Charlotte NC area.
