Redefining Bathroom Necesscities Is a Tub Necessary?

Master Bath

I can remember when I would regularly take a bath on a weekly basis just to relax and try to get my mind off stress, however I can't remember when the last time I took a bath was.  Unfortunately it appears I am not the only one.  Today it seems less and less people take the time to relax.

When remodeling a master bathroom the question is does not having a bath hurt the sale.  As we all know kitchens and bathrooms are important in selling a home.  Jim Sasko, the president and owner of Teakwood Builders, claims "The days of soaking in a tub are gone."  Instead people are tending to put in a larger shower with extra features.  People simply do not have the time to soak according to Sasko.

However keep in mind that at least one bathroom in the house needs to have a bath.  Bath's are important as people with children will want one.  My son who is five still takes baths as he is afraid of the shower.

It appears that not having a tub in the master bathroom will not effect the price of the home as long as there at least one tub in the home.

Melissa, I see this all the time. People buy homes with the big jetted tubs and then never use them. I'd take a big tiled walk in shower with glass enclosure any day.

I quit taking long baths when there was a water shortage in CA. The government said "Save water, shower with a friend" so I listened and contributed to water savings.

All kidding aside, some of the building codes are so outdated.
