Aren't Reconveyances instantly recorded after payoff?

Space Shuttle LaunchIt feels like I could shoot to the moon easier than I can get reconveyances out of some companies.

The transaction in question closed last August and it was a Short Sale with a 1st and 2nd with the same company.  I track my own reconveyances at no fee to the customer and when I still didn't have the reconveyance by January, I wrote to the company to ask them when I could expect the Full Reconveyances.

My first thought is that they had no intention of clearing the Deeds of Trust with Full Reconveyances (some loophole in their short sale instructions), but THANK Goodness this was not the case, as I finally reached someone named Mike on the phone on the 18th of January and he said that they recognized receiving the 2 payoffs from my company and he will request the Reconveyances again - I should have them by February 23rd.

About 2 weeks ago I received a letter from this company dated January 26th telling me that the lien releases were prepared and sent directly to the County for recording on September 14, 2009 and they are unable to provide a copy at this time.  

No comment about replacing the obviously lost documents, just a big PERIOD at the end of the sentence.

Today I took the time to call this company to try again and after talking to 2 different people over a 30+ minute time period, they could not find the customer authorization to talk to me and we could go no where.   I faxed it to them again and Gracie tells me that by tomorrow, they should be able to have a conversation with me.

Tomorrow is a new day, who knows?  Maybe I will get the Full Reconveyance before I get an opportunity to go to the moon.

Talk about SLOW and INEPT!  Those words do not even begin to describe this.  I hope tomorrow brings the answer.
