I always try to be on the look out for the 'inspirational' stories in life.
This evening while watching the World News on ABC, they did a story about a man, Bob Moore, owner of 'Bob's Red Mill Natural Foods,' who has decided that instead of selling his successful company, he will give it to the employees. That's right...not sell it to them, but give it to them. The company, a multi-million dollar enterprise, would sell on the open market, but Bob Moore cannot imagine it being run by strangers.
Moore intends to remain active in the company, by serving on the Board of Directors. He will put the company into an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). When an owner retires, he or she can cash out their shares for their retirement.
With so much worry about housing prices, stock prices, availability of loans, bail-outs and more, it is refreshing to hear of someone who is making a choice to do something simply because it is the right thing to do!

Wow, that is an amazing story of an extremely generous person who truly knows how to share his gratitude!
Thats heartwarming! Thanks for sharing this, we need to hear about people doing good things for each other far more than the horror stories that gather so much more press ;(
I just saw that as well. What a great way to keep your company going with the people who care about it the most.
Holly.....Bob Moore is an amazing and generous man. It is so nice to read good things in the news instead of all the gloom.
Hey Holly, great post. I had not seen this in the news but I used to sell Organic and Natural foods and have had the please of meeting Bob a few times. As Rebecca commented, he is a very generous man that built his company on a philosophy of servant leadership. Thanks Holly, Lewis
