City offering prescription discount card

A new prescription discount card offered by the City of Aurora could help city residents save money at the pharmacy.

The card, which is free for Aurora residents, is being offered for those who are without health insurance, a traditional benefits plan or have prescriptions not covered by insurance. Participants save an average of 20 percent off the regular retail price of drugs at participating pharmacies.

Most major retail pharmacy chains, such as Walgreens, CVS, Wal-Mart and Rite Aid, accept the prescription discount card. For a complete list of participating retail pharmacies, call 1-800-516-1873.

The program is a joint collaboration of the City of Aurora and the National League of Cities.

The card can be picked up at many of the city's libraries and recreation centers, including the Central Library, 14949 E. Alameda Parkway, Martin Luther King, Jr. Library/Municipal Services Center, 9898 E. Colfax Ave., and Beck Recreation Center, 800 Telluride St.
