Golf industry beginning to emerge from the rough
"More golfers are heading to the Sandhills region this year as the industry's peak season arrives", tourism officials said in an article this morning in The Fayetteville Observer. Bookings are up 5.7 percent from last year at several courses according to the Sandhills Golf Association, which represents 14 courses, 10 of which are in Moore County. It is a welcome relief from the poor number of reservations in January and February due both to an unseasonably cold winter as well as the continuing weak economy. But as the days warm up and the green grass sprouts, our area typically comes to new life as the lure of chasing the little white ball at our pristine golf courses brings players in from all areas of the country. And we know from past experience that this increased exposure of our wonderful lifestyle to new visitors will also bring added interest in permanent relocations to our area. So if you are thinking of putting your home on the market, do so soon to catch the spring golf fever in the air.
