New Housing starts are up this year. 743 new housing starts as of February 2010, over double of last years numbers.
This indicates a good year for New Home Sales, and also shows a rebound in consumer confidence in the economy.
On a side note, having New Home Sale experience, this would also indicate an increase in prices in the not too distant future in New Homes. * when the times get better they builders go with price increases. This offsets the price increases coming from the trades as the negotiate contracts.
The Real Estate Market has also seen an uptick of activity. Making the Calgary and surrounding areas a good market to buy a home in.
IF you were waiting for the bottom of the market to happen....you missed it. Its on the rise, if ever so slightly.
