I was just walking by on Queen W. at Dufferin St. The construction is well on its way to connect Dufferin St, its only taken a century to put the pieces back together. Its schedule to be completed later this year. It will be a nice welcoming to Parkdale as you walk or drive from the east. The tunnel is always dark and dreary with cooing pidgeons from above. Let the light in. From the artists rendering I've seen it will be a refreshing change, gone will be the graffitti covered overpass and scary tunnel.
Continuing on my walk west along Queen I stumbled upon Blondies, a brand new coffee shop. It was hip. The place was filled with Parkdalians enjoying free wireless internet and sipping on the chilled lattes. It was a hot day in April.
Is this the new trend for Parkdale? Over the years I've seen the changes slowly happening. But I think with the Dufferin Jog soon to be history, West Queen West and Queen West will also meet up seemlessly with the new and improved tunnel. Does this mean that we will see condo developments here too as it all pushes westward? I look forward to see how the removal of the Dufferin Jog will impact West Queen West in Parkdale.
